WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY? (excerpt
from NYSEPH 1999)
Although there are many different hypnotic inductions, most include suggestions
for relaxation, calm, and well-being. Most people describe the experience of
hypnosis as very pleasant. Hypnosis is not a type of therapy, but a procedure
that can be used to facilitate therapy. It has been used in the treatment of
pain, depression, anxiety, stress, habit control, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
and many other psychological and medical problems. Hypnosis should be used as
an adjunct to treatment with a qualified health-care professional who is trained
in the use and limitations of clinical hypnosis.
Hypnosis is scientifically verified and is an effective technique
that can promote accelerated human change. With hynotherapy we
can create desired changes in behavior and encourage mental and
physical well-being.

Clients are happy to know every session is recorded on video, from
the time you go into trance, to the time you emerge. You are welcome
to bring your own audio or video recorder. Since hypnosis is a
natural state of mind, you may be surprised that you'll hear every
word— you'll not "feel" any different than when
relaxing and reading a good book. You'll feel mellow, and may feel
light (weightlessness). You may also feel heavy as if you're sinking
in to the chair.
In a light state, its entirely possible for you to believe that
you are not hypnotized; so it is important for a Hypnotherapist
to know how to competently handle your pre-induction discussion
as well as the discussion after hypnosis. I do not allow friends
to sit in on the trance portion of the session, as most clients
find it too distracting.
"I have dedicated myself to the betterment of my clients’ general
welfare through the use of Clinical Hypnosis Techniques.
My goal is to have each client leave their session(s) with renewed
energy, an optimistic outlook on life, and greater self esteem
than they brought in with them"—Dr. David Amponsah,
MD, CHT.
